Penny starting to explore the world

At five weeks, Penny is becoming increasingly alert and aware of her surroundings – she’s seeing and hearing more and her reactions are incredible to watch! She has started to smile at us and this just melts our hearts to absolute mush. She has had some very fussy evenings, and her tired parents are starting to learn how to cope with these. We are trying to get out and about at least every second day for walks – the weather has been just beautiful with sunny skies and that crisp fall air is creeping in, so we’re doing our best to take advantage before the rains come.

We so appreciate all of the kindness from friends and family over the past several weeks: bringing us food, stocking our freezer with meals to warm up, helping with cleaning, coming by for some adult conversation… It definitely takes a village to raise a child, especially to deal with the multitude of tasks with a newborn.

Penny cuddles Winnie the Pooh – this is her first time discovering stuffed animals and it’s easily one of my favourite photos of her!
